Private clinics to assist the state in fight against Covid

The private clinics reassured Health Minister Thanos Plevris in a teleconference on Wednesday evening that they will help the state in the fight against Covid.
The cooperation of the public with the private sector concerns the provision of free ICU beds in private clinics, the management of the Emergency Response Ambulance Service (EKAV), the provision of independent facilities for Covid patients, as well as the provision of beds for Covid and other cases.
On Wednesday, Greece confirmed 7,105 new coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, with five of these identified at entry points to the country, the National Public Health Organisation (NPHO) said.
There were also 70 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, bringing the total of pandemic victims to 16,493. Of these, 95.3 pct had an underlying condition and/or were aged 70 or over.
A total of 489 patients were on ventilators in hospitals. Their median age was 66 years old and 82.8 pct had an underlying condition and/or were aged 70 or over. Of the total, 405 (82.82 pct) were unvaccinated or partly vaccinated and 84 (17.18 pct) were fully vaccinated.
