Occupied Cyprus: Upheaval in so-called "government"
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
The so-called "Prime Minister" of occupied Cyprus, Faiz Suzuoglu is leading things to his resignation and that of his "government", due to a confrontation with the "Minister of Finance", Sunat Atun,
Late yesterday Monday afternoon, Mr. Suzuoglu, together with his partners Erhan Arikli and Fikri Ataoglu, handed over the letter of resignation of the "government" to the Turkish Cypriot leader, Ersin Tatar, according to most Turkish Cypriot sources.
"Assessing the issue"
"Either him, or me," Suzuoglu was quoted as saying to Ersin Tatar, to whom he had earlier sent a letter asking for Sunat Atun resignation, but Tatar did not do so and asked to "assess the issue".
The confrontation-crisis between Suzuoglu and Atun has been going on for days because of the goings on in the "electricity authority".
The "prime minister" announced reductions in the price of electricity a few days ago and an agreement with the acceptance of the demands of the workers' union in the "authority", El Sen.
It's up to Tatar
Atun disagreed publicly with both. He allegedly did not accept the appeals yesterday to resign in order to end the crisis in the "government".
Turkish Cypriot media report that the decision is now up to Ersin Tatar for the future of the "government".
