Foreign Affairs Minister George Gerapetritis: Speaks with Israeli counterpart Katz - in S. Arabia on Thursday

Greek Foreign Affairs Minister George Gerapetritis congratulated newly appointed Israeli Foreign Affairs Minister Israel Katz on assuming his duties in a phone call on Thursday.
Gerapetritis reiterated Greece's stance concerning Israel's right to self-defense, within international humanitarian law. He also stressed the need for the release of all hostages and the opening of sustainable humanitarian corridors to provide assistance to civilians.
In a social media post, Katz said they discussed the growing bilateral relations, regional issues and potential energy and transportation projects, and he thanked Gerapetritis for his unequivocal support of Israel's right to self-defense. "I stressed that our close relations will grow for the benefit of the entire region," he added.
Greek Foreign Affairs Minister George Gerapetritis will visit Riyadh, where he is scheduled to meet with his Saudi counterpart Prince Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, on Thursday.
Their talks will focus on bilateral political and economic relations and developments in the Middle East.
In statements related to his visit to Armenia on Wednesday, Gerapetritis had said that the crisis in the Middle East threatens other areas beyond Israel and Palestine with flare-ups and should be a top priority. "A priority that will result in a solution that will be just and sustainable - a solution that will be based on resolutions of the United Nations Security Council and which will guarantee the prosperty of all peoples in the region," he said.
