Mitsotakis to address forum on climate change held in Rhodes

Featured Mitsotakis to address forum on climate change held in Rhodes

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is visiting the islands of Tilos and Rhodes on Monday.

At noon, the prime minister will visit the Archaeological Museum of Tilos and the town hall of the island. Afterwards, Kyriakos Mitsotakis will take a guided tour of the Circular Innovation Center of Tilos.

In the afternoon, the prime minister will go to Rhodes, where he will have a meeting with citizens in the city center.

At 20:00, Kyriakos Mitsotakis will speak at the "EU Tourism: Resilience in the Era of the Climate Crisis" forum.

The effects of climate change that overturn traditional business models, affect travelers' preferences and behaviours, complicate investment decisions and make the management of tourism destinations difficult will dominate the forum "EUTourism: Resilience in the Era of the Climate Crisis" taking place in Rhodes on Monday and Tuesday, April 8-9

During the work of the forum, the Rhodes joint declaration on climate change and European tourism will be finalized and signed.

According to a relevant announcement, this is the first pan-European meeting of this level, which is being held at the initiative of HOTREC and the co-organization of the South Aegean Region.

It is pointed out that the choice of Rhodes is of particular importance as the island was tested last year by the repercussions of the climate crisis and is now becoming a point of reference and a starting point for European solutions for the sustainability and resilience of tourist destinations.
