Prison Tensions
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
Scuffles between Kurd and Albanian inmates broke out in D wing of the Korydallos prison, near Athens. According to reports, the inmates clashed with makeshift knives and other crude weapons.
Ten inmates were hospitalized, of which seven at the prison infirmary and three in hospitals around Attica.
Tensions also ran high in B wing, but guards intervened in time and things calmed down.
Meanwhile, in the prison at Domokos a search of the foreign inmates ward yielded a veritable arsenal of homemade weaponry, including knives, shanks, ropes, and icepicks.
The search was conducted after a clash on Saturday resulted in the death of a 33 year old and the hospitalization of a 30 year old with serious injuries.
