With local elections just days away, voters are trying to learn as much as possible about the candidates and their programs, which however, are now in their thousands.
This year's local elections are expected to have a record number of candidates, however according to sources in the Greek press, nowhere are there more 'per capita' candidates than Trikala prefecture, in Thessaly.
As trikalavoice.gr notes, Trikala prefecture is seeing 2,214 candidates running for local offices, making it a little difficult for voters to weigh their choices.
More specifically, by municipality the candidates number:
Trikkala municipality 775
Kalambaka municipality 605
Pyli municipality 402
Farkadona municipality 356
Trikkala regional constituency 72
One should add another then candidates for European parliament that hail from the prefecture.
