A force of 200 police officers will be deployed to patrol the centre of Athens and intervene where needed to avoid incidents, Alternate Citizen Protection Minister Nikos Toskas said on Friday in an interview with ANT1 TV.
In the first half of 2017 the stores that close in downtown Athens are at a steady 28%, according to a survey by the Greek Confederation of Trade and Entrepreneurship.
The Greek law enforcement community will be out in force ahead of Angela Merkel's visit to Athens on Friday. All entrances to downtown Athens will be blocked from 11.30 am until 21.30 pm and public assembly and demonstrations are prohibited.
