The Secretary General of NATO Jens Stoltenberg made the following statement after the announcement of the agreement between Athens and Skopje:
U.S. President Donald Trump said Thursday that NATO allies that do not meet the organization’s defense spending targets would be “dealt with,” and he singled out Germany as one country he said was not doing enough. He also made specific reference to the countries that contributed their share to the military alliance, like Greece and the Baltic states.
In an exclusive interview to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA), NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg hailed the "strong political support" towards a solution in the FYROM name issue, and notes that "if the name issue is solved then NATO will invite the FYROM to become a member." Apropos of the alliance's policy of expanding with new members, Stoltenberg called it "a great success."
