The remains of 108 fallen WWII Greek soldiers recovered in Albania

The remains of 108 Greek soldiers killed during a WWII advance of Greek forces in Albania, as Greece repelled an attempted invasion by Italian forces in 1940-41, have so far been unearthed during an ongoing search at Dragot (Tepeleni) in Albania, the Hellenic National Defence General Staff announced on Thursday. None of the remains have yet been identified, the announcement said.

Hellenic armed forces asks for DNA from living relatives of fallen WW II soldiers

The Hellenic National Defence General Staff announced on Wednesday the establishment of a DNA database with samples from living relatives of the fallen Greek soldiers in WWII to help authorities identify remains in the ongoing process of exhumations in Albania. In its announcement, the General Staff explained the procedure that interested relatives must follow.
