Crisis forces Albanians to return home

The Statistics Institute of Albania (INSTAT) has announced that between 2009-2013, 133,544 economic migrants have returned to the country, mainly from Greece and Italy.
According to INSTAT, 70.8% of the returning migrants returned from Greece, and 23% from Italy.
According to the study on migration and reintegration, the average age of returning migrants was 38.6 years.
INSTAT stated that the rate of returning expats increased after the economic crisis deepened in 2011.
