Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis, in his intervention at the EU Foreign Ministers' meeting in Kyiv, referred to the "immense" repercussions of the collapse of an agreement with Russia for the safe export of Ukrainian grain via the Black Sea, especially for the supply of the countries in the global south.

In this context, Gerapetritis highlighted Greece's readiness to contribute to finding a solution and referred to possibility of transporting grain via the ports of Northern Greece and especially the port of Alexandroupoli, diplomatic sources said.

The unofficial EU Foreign Ministers' meeting in Kiyv convened on Monday for symbolic reasons, with the foreign ministers of the EU member-states reaffirming their unequivocal support for Ukraine and their solidarity with the struggles of the Ukrainian people.
