The ghost village of Sfendyli rises from the water

The lack of rainfall has caused serious problems for Crete, forcing competent authorities to plan a series of measures. Perhaps the only positive thing about the situation is that the famous "ghost village" of Sfendyli, which should have been under the water for a long time, does refuses to sink.

The village was abandoned after the building of the Aposelemis dam that created an artificial lake just for the occassional drought such as is hitting Crete this year. However the waters have receded and the village has reemerged and it looks as if no one ever left.
