Greek police on Saturday arrested the owner of a central Athens jewellery shop on Gladstonos Street after the death of a man that he had caught allegedly trying to steal from his shop the previous day.

The anarchist collective 'Rouvikonas' on Sunday claimed that its members were responsible for an "intervention" at Agios Nikolaos Church in the Athens district of Exarchia, during the Sunday service, in a post on an anti-establishment website.

Three journalists working for the 'Fileleftheros' newspaper, who had been taken into custody based on a libel suit filed against them by Defence Minister Panos Kammenos, were on Sunday released at the orders of a public prosecutor.
