Initial ObamaCare Generates 7 Million Participants

  • Written by

A White House Senior Administration Official declared that Obamacare will meet its goal of 7 million participants.

Monday marked the final day for open enrollment. Today, U.S. President Barack Obama will release a statement from the Rose Garden at 4:15 p.m., regarding his healthcare achievement.

Yesterday over 4.8 million people accessed the HealthCare.gov site, while 2 million telephone calls reached its call center. Final confirmed numbers will be released on a federal and state level shortly. The Obamacare site experienced technical difficulties early in the day, but by 8:00 a.m. EST the problems had been resolved. Those affected by technical challenges will get a grace period until April 15th, to sign up for America's new health insurance system.

The main goal of Obamacare is to cover the majority of 45 million uninsured Americans. Passed in 2010, The Affordable Care Act is widely thought to be President Obama's main domestic initiative pillar. The White House deemed the first enrollment period a success, while citizens have mixed feelings on the new healthcare scheme. However, a massive amount of Americans signed up during the final days of Obamacare's open admission.
