Vice President Biden Plans Cyprus Discussions in Turkey
U.S. Vice President Joe Biden is set to focus on Cyprus as one of his main topics of discussion, during his time in Istanbul with Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan and Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu.
Anonymous White House delegates commented on the Vice President's upcoming travels to Turkey, Ukraine and Morocco, "our major position will be the importance of getting the peace process back on track and making sure that all the actors that are involved avoid steps that are provocative so that we can take the peace process back on track," according to Parikiaki.
Last month, Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades withdrew from UN-authorized discussions between the two sides of the nation, after Turkish violations in the Exclusive Economic Zone occurred. Its seismic exploration ship Barbaros illegally entered EEZ waters under its prohibited NAVTEX mission.
