U.S. State Dept. Deputy Assistant Secretary for European & Eurasian Affairs Visits Athens
U.S. State Department Deputy Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs Amanda Sloat is currently in Athens, where she is scheduled to meet with the current Greek governmental administration and private sector delegates.
The Deputy Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs is set to examine issues with the Defense and Foreign Ministries of Greece, which include Cyprus, Greece and its relationship with its international creditors, Ukraine, energy, and international security concerns, among others.
During yesterday's meeting with Alternate Foreign Minister Euclid Tsakalotos, Sloat underlined President Obama's and Treasury Secretary Lew's stance that Greece must make concrete advancements with its global financiers.
The DAS noted that if a solution is not found, immediate turmoil will occur in the nation, which will then effect Europe and the international economy, according to the U.S. Embassy in Athens. Sloat's trip in the Greek capital runs from June 17th to 18th, before traveling to Malta and Italy, and finally arriving on Cyprus.
