FBI's Most Wanted Juan Elias Garcia Arrested

  • Written by

A day after being listed on FBI's Ten Most Wanted list, Juan Elias Garcia was arrested in Nicaragua.

He is charged with killing a New York mother and her 2-year-old son on February 4th, 2010. Garcia is termed as an "enthusiastic murderer" by the FBI and has a $100,000 reward attached to his name. The killer is thought to be armed and dangerous.

Garcia surrendered yesterday, according to the U.S. Embassy in Managua, Nicaragua. His extradition is underway now. FBI Offical George Venizelos stated on the institution's official website: "Garcia's callous disregard for human life resulted in the senseless murder of a young mother and her helpless 2-year-old son". The criminal was believed to be hiding out in El Salvador and is a member of the dangerous Mara Salvatrucha gang. The killings are a result of a romantic endeavor gone wrong with murdered 19-year-old Vanessa Argueta, along with gang rivalries between the mother and Garcia.

Special Agent James Lopez explained,"They were going to kill her for disrespecting the gang...It is unacceptable for MS-13 members to have girls they associate with be involved with rival gang members." Garcia enticed her to dinner and later killed both victims in the Central Islip woods. Garcia was 17-years-old at the time the killings took place.
