Sewol Ferry Search Retrieves Dead Bodies

  • Written by

Today's Sewol ferry search revealed heartbreaking details of the victim's deaths, including 48 schoolgirls stuffed inside a room, with a 30-person capacity.

Listening to crew member's commands, the students put on life vests but none of them survived.

Friday's search offers an account of what actually occurred in the tragic catastrophe, that left hundreds of travelers dead. The rescue team reported doors forced shut due to heavy water pressure, floating objects everywhere, and of strong currents that affected their own breathing devices.

Rescue Operation Commander and South Korean Navy Captain Kim Jin-hwang claimed, "The rescue effort is getting slower...The divers already searched all the places easily accessible. They are expecting the search to become harder because of increasing currents and harsher weather. But the navy will not stop until the last body is found".

As of today's search, 185 dead bodies have been fetched, while 117 more remain missing. Maritime authorities have yet to confirm what caused the vessel's capsize, while many arrests and search warrants have occurred this week.  Family members and loved ones are beyond heartbroken at the accident and enraged at how ferry crew members handled it.
