Sewol Ferry Owner Cheonghaejin Marine Company Searched

  • Written by

The offices of Cheonghaejin Marine Company and the residence of Yoo Byung-eun have been searched by authorities today, concerning the capsized Sewol ferry.

Twenty organizations associated with the Marine Co. and Byung-eun's home were examined. The millionaire and his family controls the company that runs the Sewol ferry line, involved in the South Korean sinkage catastrophe.

143 passengers remain missing, and 159 bodies have been located in last week's horrific vessel capsize. Eleven Sewol crew members along with its captain are under arrest, regarding their handling of the accident.

It appears that no additional living victims will be found in search and rescue efforts. As of today's quest, divers did not locate an air pocket on the ferry's heavily populated third and fourth decks. The first day of the search mission was the only time that survivors were located. Over 75% of the Sewol ferry's passengers were Danwon High School students from Ansan, South Korea.
