Diners sitting at the Exo Cafe, at 70-20 Austin St., belonging to Greek American Elias Kalogiros were pelted with the flying trash can and chunks of ice at about 10:55 p.m. when the accident damaged the restaurant’s winter vestibule and shattered some of its windows.

The crisis has cut family incomes by up to 40%, yet despite cutting budgets in other sectors, Greek families have only marginally curtailed the huge amounts spent on parallel education.

A research by the Natural Gas Supply Company shows that until now, fewer Athenians living in apartment buildings have bought heating gas this winter, compared to the previous one. About half of them (44%) have not yet filled their fuel tanks with heating oil. Last year the figure was at 33%.
