Woman convicted of husband Polish Professor's murder takes own life in prison

The ex-wife of 43-year-old Polish professor Przemysław Jeziorski, who was accused of being the mastermind behind his murder in Agia Paraskevi, committed suicide last night in the Korydallos women's prison. According to information, the 43-year-old committed suicide using sheets in the bathroom of her cell in Korydallos prison.

Information from protothema.gr also reports that the woman left a note before ending her life.

The murder of the Polish professor took place in July 2025 and along with the 43-year-old who was accused of being the mastermind of the crime, four people were also arrested. Among them, the 35-year-old man with whom the 43-year-old was allegedly in a relationship was accused of being the physical mastermind of the crime.

The crime in Agia Paraskevi
The crime took place on the afternoon of July 4, 2025, on Irini Street in Agia Paraskevi. The Berkeley professor, who had come to Greece to see the children he had with his ex-wife, an economist by profession, was murdered in cold blood, shortly before picking up the two minors.

From the moment the main puzzle was solved, that is, the identity of the victim was established, the investigations turned to the immediate environment - the people he knew and who knew him in Greece. Quickly, the police determined that the relationship between the two ex-spouses had gone through "forty waves" and their divorce was explosive. The ex-wife was examined repeatedly and despite her denial, the police had begun to piece together the puzzle, until they reached the full picture and proceeded to make the arrests.

The ex-spouses had irreconcilable differences not only in relation to their children, but also of a financial nature, concerning companies they had founded in the US.

The university professor's ex-wife pressured her 35-year-old new partner to find people willing to hit her ex-husband for pay, but in the process she allegedly insisted on killing him, setting up a scene that referred to a "professional" hit, organized in individual details.

The three foreigners identified by the woman's current partner came from Nafplio to Athens. The two Albanian defendants rented the car that they parked a short distance from Irinis Street, while the Bulgarian is alleged to have been the one who gave the weapon of the crime, a Tokarev, to the perpetrator, the ex-wife's 35-year-old partner.

The Bulgarian was known to the 35-year-old. He, dressed in black and wearing a mask, stood calmly in front of the Polish professor and began shooting him without hesitation. When he saw him fall covered in blood, he quickly moved away and got into the car where his three accomplices were waiting for him, a short distance away.

The four men confessed their guilt and then described the role of the woman, who declared herself “innocent”.

Μurder of Polish professor in Agia Paraskevi - The relationship with his Greek ex-wife

According to information, the victim was shot five times while going to receive his children from his ex-wife. The Polish professor came to Greece from New Jersey, USA, because he had a court hearing last Thursday with his Greek ex-wife, regarding the modification of the professor's communication terms with his twin children, while their mother has sole custody.

This court hearing took place as the 43-year-old saw his children once a year, of which he could have them for a month at a time. This month he would have them either in America or in Poland, his country of origin.

However, some incredible incidents that had occurred recently had alarmed the 40-year-old economist, the children's mother, who wanted to modify the terms of communication and specifically prevent the professor from taking the children with him abroad.

One incident, quite serious, was the suicide attempt of his ex-partner in front of the twins, in America, but also another incident, equally serious, when he forgot them on a bench outside his home in the US, and while he was under the influence of alcohol.

So the 43-year-old came to Greece to resolve this issue.

The appointment with the child psychologist
The former couple seems to have accepted the new terms, and on Friday morning, hours before the murder, they visited the twins' child psychologist in Haidari, where they sat for 2.5 hours talking together about their children.

According to information, the 43-year-old showed that he fully understood the reasons why his children had become estranged from him and did not want to stay with him for a long time.

The murder in Agia Paraskevi
After the child psychologist, the Greek ex-wife arranged an appointment with him to come to her house in Agia Paraskevi to pick up the children at noon for a few hours until the evening.

This meeting never took place since while he was on Irini Street, almost below his ex-wife's house, a man shot him five times, killing him instantly.

His ex-wife identified the body, voluntarily gave her cell phone
The ex-wife saw the commotion in her neighborhood and, while the 43-year-old had not shown any signs of life, contacted the Police asking to know about the murder victim, while she went to the Authorities herself, where she also identified the body.

In her long testimony, and while she also voluntarily handed over her cell phone so that there would be no suspicion of her involvement in the murder, she recounted everything she had experienced with the 43-year-old.

The 43-year-old's addiction to alcohol and his constant and strange travels
She told the Authorities that she met the 43-year-old when she was also in America, and in a short time they got married and had twins, who are now ten years old.

The Greek economist said that her ex-husband's behavior was not what she imagined when she fell in love with him and married him.

His addiction to alcohol made him violent several times, and he had beaten her while she was pregnant.

Although he was a professor based in Berkeley, USA, he traveled very often, culminating in a trip he made to North Korea for a month while she was 8 months pregnant.

The separation before the pandemic
Shortly before the pandemic, the economist returned to Greece with the children, while she also filed for divorce, while he, for his part, filed for divorce in America.

The courts granted custody to the mother, while the 43-year-old would have daily contact with them, and he could see them for one month a year, where he usually took them to America. However, when he came to Greece, he could see them at certain times, as stipulated in the court decision.

The 40-year-old cannot imagine who killed him - What her lawyer says
Speaking to iefimerida, the legal representative of the victim's ex-wife and mother of his children, Alexandros Pasiatas, stressed that "my client was the one who voluntarily went to the Police, and also handed over her mobile phone. She cannot imagine who could have killed her ex-husband and father of her children. All she wants is the safety of her children and their mental health."

Crucial testimonies for evidence
Meanwhile, the police authorities are trying to find the pieces that will compose the puzzle of the murder of the 43-year-old professor from Poland, who, after the long testimony of the ex-wife, are turning to people who had some connection with the professor.

The owner of the Airbnb house that the 43-year-old had rented has already testified, while the victim's brother is also expected to provide information about the victim's life, who was notified by the 43-year-old's Greek ex-wife to collect his body and is expected from Poland.

The authorities have collected video footage from the area of the murder, as well as the victim's mobile phone, while the child psychologist is expected to be called to testify, as well as a relative of the victim's ex-wife with whom he met sometimes when the professor came to Greece.

The perpetrator as calm
However, eyewitnesses described the perpetrator as quite calm, who was wearing a mask and dark clothes and after opening fire and killing the 43-year-old, he fled on foot, showing that he knows the area quite well.

So far, the motive for the murder remains unknown and all scenarios are open, while the ex-wife, who has stated that she cannot know anyone who would want to kill her ex-husband, will likely be called for additional testimony in the coming days.
