Greek farmers stormed runways and clashed with riot police on Crete, forcing the shutdown of two international airports and leaving at least eight officers injured as nationwide protests over production costs and subsidies spiraled into violence.
Fraport Greece this week will unveil the 14 renovated airports around Greece that the German-Greek consortium manages, one of the more successful privatizations recorded in the country over the past decade of economic turmoil.
According to the Athens-based consortium, led by German multinational Fraport, the works at the regional airports – located in the country’s premier holiday destinations – were completed three months before schedule.
