April is off to a good start for the Greek stock market, which is being positively affected by the upgrade to developed markets decided by MSCI. At the same time, expectations for a diplomatic resolution to the US-Iran war are boosting investment sentiment in all markets, with Athens being no exception.

Processes for the acquisition of the Hellenic Financial Markets Group by Euronext, the largest stock market operator in Europe, are entering the final stretch and if they come to fruition, Athens will become the 8th member of this entity.

Goldman Sachs projects the Athens Stock Exchange’s (ATHEX) general index is set to reach 1,550 points by the end of 2024, a nearly 15% gain from current levels, reaffirming its positive outlook on the fundamentals of Greek listed companies.
