The completion of the first phase of the country’s unmanned aerial vehicle defense is marked by the arrival of the Patroller systems at the end of September, with Athens now developing three levels of protection against the new hybrid threats of the 21st century. Following the creation of two “Category 1” drone production lines at the base factories, the 306 EBT and the 316 SPTX respectively, the Pentagon’s planning is proceeding normally for the country’s defense protection with drone and anti-drone systems at all levels.

Greece may be buying drones from the US, Israel and other countries, investing significant amounts in ready-made platforms for the Armed Forces, but the picture in the domestic market is much more interesting than it seems at first glance. Behind the large purchases of V-BAT, Heron and other international systems, a Greek ecosystem of companies that design, manufacture and develop their own unmanned aircraft has begun to emerge.

The Minister of National Defence, Nikos Dendias, visited today (8/4) the 306 Telecommunications Base Factory in Acharnes, noting in a post on X that he observed significant progress in the development of unmanned aerial vehicle (drone) production stations and in the use of 3D printing technologies.
