A visit to Greece by U.S. President Donald Trump, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio is being planned for July.

According to information from protothema.gr, the top American officials will be in Athens before heading to Turkey for the emergency NATO summit at the beginning of July.

It is recalled that the U.S. ambassador to Greece, Kimberly Guilfoyle, had revealed last February that Donald Trump would visit Greece, commenting that “it will be an incredible honor for the country.”

The upcoming visit carries particular geopolitical significance, as it comes during a period of increased U.S. activity in the wider Eastern Mediterranean region. Immediately after their presence in Greece, Trump and Hegseth, along with Rubio, are expected to travel to Turkey for the NATO Summit, highlighting Greece’s role as a critical stop in the Alliance’s southeastern flank.

The timing, coinciding with the celebration of 250 years of American independence, adds further symbolism to the visit, during which discussions may include defence cooperation, developments in the Middle East, and Greece’s role as an energy and strategic hub.

In any case, the presence of top U.S. officials in Greece confirms the ongoing strengthening of bilateral relations and fits into a broader framework of shifts on the international stage, with the region gaining increasing importance for the West.
