Three crude oil tankers have passed through the Strait of Hormuz with their tracking systems turned off in an attempt to avoid possible Iranian attacks, according to data cited by Reuters from shipping platforms Kpler and LSEG.

Greek shipowner George Prokopiou, whose ships have repeatedly transited the Strait of Hormuz during the Iran-Iraq war, has sent its largest oil supertanker since the conflict began. The Atokos, a VLCC (Very Large Crude Carrier) with a capacity of about 2 million barrels, recorded a position signal in the Indian Ocean on Friday, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. This suggests that it had transited the Strait of Hormuz in the previous days with its tracking transmitter turned off.

According to information, Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis requested that the Greek ships that are blocked in the Persian Gulf be allowed to leave in a telephone conversation he had yesterday with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who responded that the insecurity in the Strait of Hormuz is due to the military aggression of the US and Israel against Iran.
