Crete - 5.8R earthquake claims one life

Α worker was pulled out dead from the ruins of the church of Profitis Ilias, outside the village of Arkalochori in Heraklion, Crete, after the roof collapsed on him during the 5.8 Richter earthquake that shook the island.

4.4 magnitude earthquake in Rhodes

A seismic tremor of magnitude 4.4 on the Richter scale occurred at 00:27 Greek time, as announced by the Geodynamic Institute of the National Observatory of Athens, on behalf of the four constituents of the Unified National Seismological Network.

Εarthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale shakes the island of Nisyros

A moderate earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale shook the island of Nisyros at 1.14 am on Tuesday. The tremor occured 24 km south-southwest of Nisyros, the Dodecanese, the Geodynamics Institute of National Observatory of Athens said.

The Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Institute (EMSC) estimated that the quake had a magnitude of 5.9 and occurred at a small focal depth of about 2 km.

It is not yet known if there were any casualties or damage from the quake.
