Greece’s small accommodation businesses active in tourism have taken a blow this year, recording decreased arrivals and overnight stays as well as diminishing revenue, according to the Confederation of Entrepreneurs of Greek Tourism Enterprises (SETKE).

The Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE), representing over 50,000 businesses, is calling on the government to reconsider plans to construct so-called hotspots, or refugee registration centers, at major tourist locations across the country.

The leaders of France, Cyprus, Italy, Spain, Portugal and Malta will meet on Friday September 9, in Athens, on the initiative of Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, to work out proposals for their own vision of European structure and EU policies.
