U.S. Ambassador to Greece Geoffrey Pyatt marked the passing of former prime minister and Honorary President of New Democracy (ND) Constantine Mitsotakis on Monday, describing him as a "great statesman" and a politician who improved U.S.-Greek relations.

The funeral service for former Greek prime minister Constantine Mitsotakis, who passed away in the early hours of Monday morning, will be held on May 31 (Wednesday) at 15:00 at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens, with the honours reserved for a serving prime minister, New Democracy (ND) said in a press release on Monday evening.

Main opposition New Democracy leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis in an interview with voria.gr website on Monday accused the prime minister of lying to the Greek people.
