Did the maritime drone come from a Ukrainian base in Libya

The Politico website has introduced a new twist in the investigation into the origin of the maritime drone found in a cave in Lefkada, while a specialized team is analyzing the unmanned surface vessel at Hellenic Navy facilities in Skaramangas.

Rhodian hound becomes seventh indigenous Greek dog breed

A particularly important moment for Greek dog lovers is marked by the official recognition of the Rhodian Hound by the Greek Kennel Club, as this historic breed is now registered as the seventh national dog breed.

This development is a great vindication for those who tried to preserve the breed, but also an important step for the promotion of Greek canine tradition.

The recognition of the Rhodian Hound by the Greek Kennel Club is a historic moment for the island of Rhodes as well. It is a particularly athletic and agile hunting dog, known for its speed, endurance and intense hunting ability. Its official recognition now paves the way for its better registration, protection and promotion, both in Greece and internationally.

The decision of the Hellenic Kennel Club was based on the homogeneity and stability of the morphological and functional characteristics of the breed, evidence that was found during the evaluation of a large number of dogs in Rhodes. At the same time, the inclusion of the Rhodian Hound in Group 10 of hounds strengthens its position in official cynological events and contributes to its systematic study and conservation.

The recognition of the breed also opens a broader discussion on the relationship between hunting tradition and the protection of wildlife. The exceptional hunting abilities of the Rhodesian Greyhound highlight the need for responsible management of the training and use of such dogs, especially in sensitive ecosystems such as those of the islands.

Overall, this development constitutes a significant success for Greek canine love and the cultural tradition of the country. It is the hope of all of us that this unique Greek breed will continue to exist and evolve, always with respect for our history and for nature.

The Rhodian hound ia a dog that hunts mainly hares and partridges (island) using mainly its sight (Sighthound). Observant, always moving, energetic, athletic, with a sensitive sense of smell and particularly fast. Difficult to train, it prefers to hunt alone and not in a "pack".
The Rhodian hound does not "chatter" at the scents of hares in grazing areas but "cuts off" their escape paths early, finding their "little hide" relatively easily. After a short track and a short "stop" in front of the hare - sometimes other prey - it rushes at the prey with the aim of briefly chasing it and ultimately capturing it. The Rhodian hound is a particularly athletic and fast-moving dog, which allows it to capture the prey in front of it after a short chase, most of the time.
