Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis stressed that “ tourism development should be sustainable, resilient, fair, and participatory” and that “ the dividend of growth should be distributed as fairly as possible throughout the country.”

The ambassadors to Athens of Saudi Arabia Saad Alammar and Austria Gerda Volg met separately on Thursday in Alexandroupolis with Regional Governor of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Christodoulos Topsidis.

The direct contribution of tourism to Greece's GDP is estimated to be close to 24 billion euros or 11.5% in 2022, with five regions representing almost 90% of the country's receipts, three of which are purely tourist regions.
