Greek fighter jets have intercepted three Turkish aircraft after they carried out seven airspace violations and five infringements of the Athens Flight Information Region over the Aegean, the Hellenic National Defense General Staff has said, the second consecutive day of incursions following armed F-16 and drone activity reported Tuesday.

Almost half the violations, compared to Tuesday, were recorded on Wednesday in the Aegean, while the Turkish provocation continues.

Today most of the violations were recorded by a Turkish drone (27 out of a total of 31), one by an ATR-72 spy aircraft and 3 by F-16 fighters. There were also 10 violations of national airspace in the eastern Aegean.

A total of 11 aircraft, 8 F-16s in 4 formations, a UAV, a spy and a helicopter were involved.

According to Hellenic Armed Forces General Staff, the Turkish aircraft were identified and intercepted in accordance with international rules, and in accordance with established practice.

Yesterday, Tuesday, 74 violations of the Athens FIR were recorded.
