Replying to European Parliament Vice President and MEP Dimitris Papadimoulis on concerns over the Greek minority’s rights in southern Albania, European Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn said the Commission placed great importance on protecting ethnic minority rights and was closely following the issue.

A few weeks ago, the Albanian state as part of a glorious state ceremony greeted the remains of Nazi collaborator Midhat Frashëri with the honors of a national hero. Neither the fact that he collaborated with the Germans, nor the fact that his organization starred in atrocities against Greeks in southern Albania played a role in overturning the historical narrative of the Hoxha period.

More Greeks prohibited fom entry to Albania

The Interior Ministry and the Prosecutor's Office in Argyrokastro, have announced an embargo on the border for some 60 Greek citizens who were registered by law enforcement authorities as dangerous persons for Albanian national security.
