Twenty-nine Greek antiquities, sold by smugglers, from Macedonia, Epirus, Central Greece, the Cyclades and Crete, which ended up in the USA, through the criminal networks of the illegal trafficking of cultural goods, are returning to Greece.

The first message of the Central Archaeological Council's (CAC) decision is that after five years of adventures, the issue is dealt again with seriousness, Attiko metro president Nikos Tahiaos said on Thursday in an interview with radio station Praktoreio 104.9 FM.

A 46-year-old man was arrested in the area of Alimos, an Athens suburb, on Tuesday for illegal possession and transportation of antiquities of very high value, police’s cultural heritage division said.
