The first veterinary clinic for wild mammals, the only one in Greece that will deal with incidents involving wild carnivores, was set up by the organisation for wildlife "Arcturos".

Arcturos environmental organisation in northern Greece spotted an advertisement on the internet for the sale of a young brown bear in Albania for 1,100 euros. The animal was confiscated and is now in the Arcturos sanctuary.

A female adult bear was reported killed over the weekend after being hit by a car at the Siatista-Kastoria section of the Egnatia highway, near the junction of Vogatsikos.
