A total of 5786 Turkish citizens have sought asylum in neighbouring Greece in the 27 months following Turkey’s July 2016, coup attempt, independent news site Diken reported, citing the Greek Ministry of Migration Policy.

UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, today published the results of an annual participatoryassessment report on the concerns of asylum-seekers and refugees in Greece abouttheir current situation and future prospects and risks and how  to address them. 

In 2017, 12.015 people were granted asylum by Greece, according to the latest Eurostat data, which is the seventh highest in relation to the population, in the European Union.
