Greece’s central bank became the target of a cyber attack by activist hacking group Anonymous on Tuesday which disrupted service of its web site, a Bank of Greece official said on Wednesday.

Bank of Greece (BoG) governor Yiannis Stournaras on Tuesday reassured that deposits in Greek banks are fully secured as after the recapitalization of banks the danger of a haircut has been eliminated

"Failure to reach an agreement would mark the beginning of a painful course that would lead initially to a Greek default and ultimately to the country's exit from the euro area and – most likely – from the European Union," according to Bank of Greece's report on Monetary Policy 2014-2015.
