Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis proposed Ekaterini Sakellaropoulou, first female president of the Council of State, as president of the Hellenic Republic, in a televised address on Wednesday evening.
Sakellaropoulou, head of the country's highest administrative court, was not a member of the ruling New Democracy party, the premier said.
