A special moment in inter-Christian dialogue was recorded today in the Vatican, during the meeting of Archbishop Elpidophoros of America with Pope Leo XIV. The meeting took place in the context of a pilgrimage that connects three symbolic stations of Christian history: Rome, Constantinople and Nicaea.

“Reaction produces no effect” was the comment of government spokesman Pavlos Marinakis in response to a question about Tripoli’s verbal warning to the UN, adding that “it adds nothing to the chilopropes that are not recognized by anyone, such as the invalid and unsubstantiated Turcoli memorandum.”

Under Turkey’s full guidance and drawing on arguments from the Turkish Foreign Ministry, Libya submitted coordinates and a map defining the outer boundaries of its continental shelf, seeking to secure the “benefits” granted by the Turkish-Libyan MoU at the expense of Greek and Egyptian maritime rights.
