The President of the European Council, Donald Tusk, met with the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Anastasiades, on the sidelines of the EU Summit in Brussels on Thursday.

Despite objections raised by Germany and the Netherlands, the EU members adopted a tough concussion against Turkey, making specific reference to targeted measures if it failed to comply with international law and stop the provocative moves against Cyprus.

Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, in coordination with the President of the Republic of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades, is expected to raise to the European Council the issue of the immediate examination and adoption of measures against Turkey, as long as the neighboring country insists on its actions in the Eastern Mediterranean, according to government sources.
