The Greek government is considering sending a military force in Mali, the former French colony where 4,500 French troops are currently stationed. The issue was discussed between PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis with French President Emmanuel Macron during their recent meeting in Paris.

In a post on the Greek foreign ministry's Twitter account on Sunday, Athens thanked EU partner France and its foreign minister, Jean Yves Le Drian, as well as the French foreign ministry, for organising the repatriation of a Greek and other EU nationals from the Chinese province of Wuhan.

French President Emmanuel Macron has pledged France would support Greece and dispatch war frigates to the country if a standoff with Turkey over regional energy reserves intensifies.
