The consolidation plan for Greece's Public Power Corporation (PPC) was at the centre of talks held in Cairo on Thursday, between Greek Environment and Energy Minister Kostis Hatzidakis and his American counterpart, United States Secretary of Energy Rick Perry. 

In comments to Skai on Friday, Energy Minister Costis Hatzidakis said he could not rule out the possibility of power cuts as the country's electricity network "is stretched to its limits."

The carrot, but also the whip, was in store for the government and MEPs of SYRIZA from European Commissioner for Competition Margrete Vestagger when she was took part in the European Affairs Committee of the House.
