Turkey and Libya have signed an agreement on maritime boundaries in the Mediterranean Sea as well as a deal on expanded security and military cooperation, the Turkish government said on Thursday.

The Greek Foreign Affairs Ministry's spokesman Alexandros Gennimatas on Thursday said that no agreement should so blatantly violate International Maritime Law and the sovereign rights of affected countries, in response to Turkey and Libya signing a deal on maritime boundaries in the Mediterranean Sea on Thursday but who have not yet provided more details as to how this defines or affects the two countries' waters. 

The Libyan port authorities seized a Greek-owned tanker and arrested the eight Greek sailors on board, suspected of oil smuggling.
