High expectations for the increase of the minimum wage, which may even exceed 6%, are cultivated by the government, while the process has entered its final stage with the Centre of Planning and Economic Research-KEPE today, Friday 15 April, to deliver to the Minister of Labor the conclusions of the dialogue between scientific and social actors.

The Greek government will announce a “significant” increase in the minimum monthly wage, effective on May 1, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said from Parliament on Wednesday evening, part of stepped up efforts to deflect record-breaking inflation – in the Euro era – and skyrocking energy costs.

The consequences on the quality of life of private sector workers from the energy shock and the inflation rally of recent months are dramatic, as shown by the Labor Market Climate Indicators published today by the General Confederation of Greek Workers.
