With the restoration of the western pediment of the Parthenon completed and the external scaffolding permanently removed from the monument’s western façade, a particularly significant milestone has been reached for the protection and enhancement of the monuments on the Athens Acropolis, Culture Minister Lina Mendoni stressed on Thursday.

Two articles published in British newspapers The Daily Telegraph and The Guardian directly support arguments for the return of the Parthenon Marbles from the British Museum to Greece, penned only a few days after Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis' London visit, who raised the issue in his meeting with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

In an article entitled “Give Iris her body back, Britain”, the Washington Post says it is time for the British Museum to consider handing back the Parthenon sculptures to Greece.
