The Turkish Foreign Ministry issued a highly provocative press release against Greek politicians who made statements related to the occasion of the anniversary of the internationally recognised Genocide of the Pontic Greeks on May 19, 1919 by the predecessor to the modern Turkish state.

A 29-year-old man was stabbed by four people in the center of Thessaloniki.

“We do not forget the shameful crime and its victims”, stated the Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos in his message on the Pontic Genocide Memorial Day (May 19th) and called for the perpetrators of the crime, even now, to ask to be forgiven.
