Greece’s new minister of tourism, Harry Theoharis, has assumed his duties, citing intentions of improving infrastructure, developing thematic tourism forms, enhancing education and training and, upgrading the quality of offered services to tourists that visit the country.

The tourism ministry is aiming to capitalize on Greece’s good performance in 2016 by opening up to new markets, extending the tourism season to include winter and autumn, and attracting higher income tourists, Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura said on Wednesday.

Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura briefed the MPs and the parties' responsible for Tourism in a broad meeting on Thursday on the lastest developments and the course of the Greek tourism.
