Former Greek champions Panathinaikos have been excluded from European competition for three seasons after failing to meet financial requirements, European football governing body UEFA said on Tuesday.

UEFA, the football organisation for Europe, has punished Greek club Panathinaikos with a year’s disqualification from all competitions in Europe until the team’s management pays off its pending financial obligations.

The Greek government is risking the exclusion of the country's clubs and the national team from FIFA and UEFA competitions.
