The European Union will need to provide significant debt relief for Greece if it is to persuade the International Monetary Fund to put its financial clout behind the country’s third bailout package, the Washington-based organisation has said.

Archaeological excavations on the Ionian island of Lefkada have brought to light a previously undiscovered and sizeable ancient theatre, the culture minister announced on Wednesday. It said the find was made on Koulmou hill toward the end of 2015.

Greek shipowners on Thursday rebuffed a European Commission request to Greek authorities last month to review -in the next two months- which ships would be opted for inclusion under a Greek favorable tax system and exclude fishing vessels, tow vessels and yachts from this system.
