Exports decline, deflation lingers

The total value of Greek exports declined year on year by 9.4% in January 2014 to 3,752.5 million euros as against 4,142.6 million euros in 2013, according to statistical authority ELSTAT. The decrease, if petroleum related products are deducted from the equation, stands at 3.3%.

One in four Greeks owes back taxes

New data released today by the Finance ministry shows that one out of four Greeks owes money to the Tax Bureau. The total amount of money owed to the state is at 62.5 billion euros.

Moody's recognizes BoG recapitalization figures

By agreeing with the BoG estimates, Moody's is offering the Greek Finance ministry probably the best weapon in the upcoming negotiations with the Troika over the Greek banks recapitalization.
